Avalanche Awareness / Recreational Level 1 and Level 2 Avalanche Courses

Description:  These custom 1-3-day courses will involve curriculum that is based on the guidelines of the American Avalanche Association.  

You choose the dates, and let us know more about your experience levels, fitness and goals for the course, and we will cater a course specific to your group.

Content will include: avalanche types and anatomy, basic slab mechanics, terrain evaluation and route selection, human factors, travel protocols, weather influences and forecasting, snowpack development, decision making, snowpits, stability tests, and companion rescue practice, among other topics and discussion.

Field days will take place in the Custer Gallatin and Shoshone National Forests, and the classroom/ slideshow/ lecture components will take place in Cooke City, MT.
